Before the first post goes in
A fence is mostly posts. Ours go three feet down into concrete with a gravel base so water drains away from the butt instead of sitting against it.
We pull a string line for the whole run before the first post goes in. On a sloped yard you decide up front whether the fence steps or racks with the grade, because you cannot change your mind halfway.
What is included

Cedar privacy
Western red cedar, board on board or stockade. Ages to grey unless you stain it.

Post and rail
Two or three rail, with or without wire mesh for dogs.

Vinyl
Heavy gauge only. The thin stuff yellows and cracks by year six.

Aluminum and iron
Pool code compliant with self closing self latching gates.

Gates
Steel frames on anything over four feet wide. Wood frames sag, every time.

Permits and lines
We check setbacks and pull permits. Property line disputes we stay out of.
Before the first post goes in

Confirm the line
You need a survey or a clear agreement with the neighbour. We will not guess at a boundary.

Call Dig Safe
Utilities marked before anything goes in the ground. It is free and it is the law.

Set the posts
Three feet down, gravel base, concrete collar sloped away from the wood.

Hang and adjust
Rails and pickets after the concrete cures. Gates get set last and adjusted on site.

Ranges, not quotes. Every property is different and the only honest number comes after we walk it.
